The three days of the Holy Spirit are an opportunity for a short getaway from the city and a first "taste" of summer vacation. "There are not a few who will take advantage of the three days for a short getaway, after a difficult quarantine winter", the Athenians typically state in a relevant report of 9.84.
Determined to leave the small town, within the three days of the Holy Spirit, most Athenians show up, even if their financial means are limited. For another year it seems that the first reason are nearby destinations, with the most popular places being Nafplio, Chalkida, Xylokastro, Loutraki and Nafpaktos.
The choices in islands for the three days of the Holy Spirit are divided… Some "vote" for nearby islands of the Saronic Gulf, such as Aegina, Poros, Agistri etc., while this year many say they will choose more remote islands with Paros more popular, Sifnos, Santorini, and Mykonos.
It is noteworthy that most say they chose to flee Athens, despite the fact that their finances have been very "tight" in recent months.
There are of course some who note that they will choose the easy and economical solution of the holiday home they have outside Athens.
