A coordinated cleaning operation of Agios Georgios Square and the surrounding streets was carried out in the early hours of the morning by the crews of the Municipality of Athens in order to remove the garbage left behind by those who gathered on Friday night.
The people of the cleanliness of the Municipality took care of every corner of the square and the wider area, so that it is given clean to the locals. The garbage (bottles, plastic cups, cigarette packs, papers and various packages) filled 50 large garbage bags, followed by the scanning and disinfection of the square, the surrounding streets and sidewalks.
The Municipality of Athens implements a special plan for cleaning the spaces and squares, such as Agios Georgios Square and Barnabas Square, where overcrowding is observed, especially on weekends. In addition, it continues to target large businesses in the city's neighborhoods.
"Our care for cleanliness was and remains primary. We struggle to keep public space clean and tidy especially now that most of us need it. We, as the Municipality of Athens, appeal to the people who use the squares and parks of the city to contribute to it as a sign of solidarity and respect to the fellow citizens but also to the cleaning workers ", said the responsible deputy mayor Nikos Avramidis.
