A total of 132 archeological sites and museums of the country will participate in the institution "Full Moon 2018" and will remain open to the public, today, Sunday, for those who want to admire the full moon of August.
In fact, events will be held in 95 of them.
For another year the issue was discussed at the Central Archaeological Council (KAS) and they decided to approve events related to the beautiful night and include from music, dance, theater and art exhibitions to film screenings, poetry evenings, tours and much more.
The actions of the popular institution, which culminate on the night of the Full Moon, started in some areas on Friday, August 24, while in others they continue until Monday, August 27, 2018.
The Ministry of Culture and Sports has been successfully organizing the events of the August Full Moon since 2002, offering archeological sites and monuments to the public on a summer evening under the light of the August moon.
The Full Moon of August 2018 has been included in the events of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Admission to all venues will be, as every year, free for the public.
The Acropolis Museum welcomes the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens and sets up a sensual journey-tribute to the most important compositions of Greek cinema, under the direction of Dimitris Michas and the organization of OPANDA (9 pm).
The National Archaeological Museum of the city organizes a multi-collection night with theater, stories and music (8 pm) while the Numismatic Museum hosts in its garden the music event "La luna", with Marian Georgiou and Adam Tsarouchis on keyboards, Elias Argyropoulou and Dimitris Karagiannis on saxophone (9 pm).
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, on the 26th of the month culminates the short residency of Action Hero, the two dynamic performers from Bristol who collect love songs from all over Europe with the project "Oh Europa" under the full moon, under his music Dj the Dreamer. At the same time, in fact, on the Panoramic Stairs of the SNFCC, Ninos du Brasil, representatives of the independent music scene, will make one of their rare live - maximalist and at the same time eerie - appearances.
