Η "The History of the Earth" is the new, state-of-the-art performance of the New Digital Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation, which will travel the public to our wonderful planet, giving us the opportunity to discover aspects of the creation of the Earth, how it was born and how it evolved over time.

The Director of the New Digital Planetarium, Dr. Manos Kitsonas, speaking in Athens 9.84 and Margarita Mytilineou, enthusiastically described this fascinating journey into the past, talking about a unique experience in the impressive planetarium dome which gives a realistic simulation of heaven and earth and helps us to gain experience through the knowledge of the past.

"We can watch nice documentaries on TV or on our computer. In the New Digital Planetarium, what makes the difference is the sense of projection in the dome, which helps us to better perceive and feel what we capture ", he said.

As he explained, in the "History of the Earth", which is addressed to children over ten years and of course to adults, we will go back almost 4,6 billion years and observe natural conditions and geological phenomena that cause awe with their size and extent and that played a decisive role in the creation and evolution of our planet.

Parallel, we will receive answers to key questions such as how mountain ranges formed on the earth's surface and deep trenches in the ocean floor or how earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are caused.

After all, this is an issue which, according to Mr. Kitsonas, is more relevant than ever, at a time when both climate change and the pandemic are ringing the alarm bell for the future of our planet.

In this context, he stressed that it helps us ensure through the knowledge of the past and the history of the earth, that it will be able to be protected from our own activities.

"What we want to achieve with this show is to talk about the history of the earth and to help the public understand the place of man in space and time. Man occupies a negligible space in space, has managed to evolve technology and is able to destroy or even accelerate the destruction of the planet. Our planet will be destroyed anyway, but it will be in billions of years. There is no reason to speed it up. "

The digital show "The History of the Earth", starts today, Friday, November 19, at the New Digital Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation, lasts 40 minutes and all health protocols are strictly observed against Covid-19.
