An interactive music and dance tour for schools and families with children 6-12 years old in eight emblematic cultural spaces of Athens

What happens when dance and music invade the museum? What if the exhibits decided to relocate? What would a statue say if it could speak and what music would one choose to dance next to a painting? Can the museum become a place of exploration, play and creation and, if so, how?
Ο Municipality of Athens invites them children 6-12 years to discover "The museum is different»Through one Exciting interactive tour performed for the first timewith free participation, from October to December 2021, in its cultural sites and museums Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and in Industrial Gas Museum of Technopolis. The action co-organized by the team A (r) CT and the Performing Arts Laboratory Artfygio, under the auspices and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is carried out in the framework of the three-year plan of the Municipality of Athens for culture Culture is Athens.
In more detail, "The museum otherwise" is an animated educational action experience that invites primary school children (schools and families) to make a different visit at the Museum and discover it through music, physical theater, movement and dance. Children get to know the museum's collections, exhibits, architecture and history through entertainment, interaction and play, and so the museum becomes a living space, full of creative challenges, a space that excites the imagination, free expression, creation.
As part of the action, our little friends, under the guidance of the performers, will participate in a series of special group and individual activities such as theatrical games, kinesiological improvisations and collective discussions, they will create shapes and choreographies with their body, they will choose sounds and music, they will learn the history of the exhibits, they will compose their own fairy tales and, finally, they will get to know the museum… otherwise!
Purpose of the action is to redefine the museum as a place of entertainment by cultivating a sense of respect for it, to give artistic stimuli and contribute to the development of museum education, to acquaint children with arts and culture, to promote cooperation and teamwork, to encourage freedom of expression.
The music and dance action has flexible structure and is adapted each time according to the needs of the cultural space that takes place and according to the solar group that is addressed. Each space will host two interactive tours in one day. Each action lasts about 60'- 90 'and is performed with free participation for a limited number of people (reservation required).
"The museum otherwise" will take place at the Industrial Gas Museum of Technopolis and at the following museums and cultural sites of OPANDA: Dodecanese House, Center for Folk Art and Tradition "Angeliki Chatzimichali", Children's Library of the Municipality of Athens, Municipality of Athens "Melina", Digital Museum of Plato Academy.

A few words about the A (r) CT group
The group A (r) CT was born in 2014 in England by the choreographer, performer and dance teacher Eleni Papaioannou with a central idea of how art belongs to everyone and should be everywhere. He has made interactive site-specific performances in unexpected places (metro, squares, bookstores, galleries, parks, etc.), workshops aimed at all age groups and performances aimed at educating and active participation of the public. Some of the festivals he has participated in Greece and abroad are: International Contemporary Dance Festival of Mexico City 2018, Rabbitlab 2.0, Sundays in Technopolis, In Progress Feedback Festival 2017, Athens Video Dance Project Festival 2016 (Athens), 1st and 2nd Modern Platform PK Dance Theater (Athens), 1st Dance Festival of Chronochronos (Athens), Resolution 2016 and Fringe Shorts 2015 at The Place (London), Summer Streets 2015 at Regents Street, Friday League at the Delicatessen Theater (London), Motus Festival at Milton Keynes (England), 2nd Scratch Festival (Athens), Emerging Choreographers Platform 2015 at the Broadway Theater (London).
A few words about Artfygio
The Artfygio- "Arts the Shelter" was founded in 2013 with the main purpose to be an art shelter through the promotion of art in the daily lives of individuals and families with the aim of entertainment and education. Specializes in the design and implementation of personalized (customized) educational programs and cultural activities for institutions such as museums, municipalities, cultural centers, institutions, private companies, etc.
