On October 17, 1963, the Beatles recorded for the first time on FourTrack their song I Want to Hold Your Hand.
The number one hit of 1964 in Britain gave in 2021 the inspiration for the writing of a contemporary play that will inaugurate the new artistic era of one of the most historic theaters in Athens.
Tassos Iordanidis' play "I want to hold your hand" is presented from October 29, at the Alpha - Linea - Fotiou Theater, which was renamed in honor of its "expensive" founders, Stefanos Lineos and Ellis Fotiou .
Tiredness in marriage, the crisis that people experience after many years of cohabitation, infidelity and a half-board hotel become the backdrop for two "illegal" lovers.
They are both parents. They both have their rights. They have both made mistakes.
World drama has often dealt with the issue of human relations, with the needs of the two sexes, with their wants and needs, perhaps because the viewer can directly or indirectly identify very easily and mobilize emotionally. The two heroes "invite" us to balance between laughter and tears and to realize, through their meetings, that what we are all looking for at the end of the day is the essential companionship. Someone to hold our hand.
They will make it;
Tassos Iordanidis for his work:
"One night in quarantine. Thalia Matika spent the night with me. Slowly singing so as not to wake up our children, we decided to talk about everything that is the daily routine that haunts us, makes us happy and that is ultimately our life.
A few hours later I found myself writing non-stop. The reason is the 14 years of living with Thalia, the births of our children, our common professional life, the hours at home. The work includes many dramatized biographical elements. For things we have experienced, for things I have observed, for some personal life experiences. For cohabitation. For love. For the common course. For problems. For disputes. For needs, respect, despair, love, the concept of companionship.
I hope the common result does not disappoint any spectator ".
