The importance of this year's flu vaccination was pointed out by the president of the National Vaccination Committee, as cases have already begun to appear on the European continent.

"Just a few hours ago the CDC published a flu message as cases of H3N2 flu were observed in Croatia," he added, adding that this strain of flu could cause serious illness in the elderly.

As he pointed out in our country, a month is being prescribed for the flu vaccine and he added that until yesterday, several thousand over 1 million doses had been made. According to the professor, we should not confuse a simple cold with the flu.

"In time, a stitch saves you from nine," said Maria Theodoridou, Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics and President of the National Vaccination Committee, wanting to show that if we had been vaccinated on time and in a large percentage, we would not have needed so many "pinches", obviously referring to the need for doses of the coronavirus and influenza vaccine.

The president of the National Vaccination Committee, Professor Maria Theodoridou, referring to the coronavirus, said that when the temperature drops to 6 degrees Celsius, the coronavirus will last 10 times longer.

Answering a question about the vaccines for children, he announced that "the Moderna vaccine for children aged 12 and over in Greece may be included, after the evaluations of the vaccine in international organizations".

The Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, announced that the platform for a repeat dose of the Johnson & Johnosn monoclose vaccine, which will be administered two months after the first, regardless of age, opens on November 5.

For the third dose of the vaccine at all ages, the chair of the Vaccination Committee said that this will happen soon.

Marios Themistokleous stated that more than 6,3 million of our fellow citizens (60,5%) have completed their vaccination, ie 60,5% of the general population and 69,8% of the adult population are fully vaccinated.

He added that 300.000 of our fellow citizens have taken the 3rd installment, while 35.000 have made an appointment.

Vaccination coverage rates per age group are as follows:

85 years and over 75,3%
80 - 84 years 74,4%
75 - 79 years 86,4%
70 - 74 years 80,8%
