The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced yesterday Thursday that 24 patients with COVID-648 died in the previous 19 hours and 24.611 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were diagnosed.
With 592.964 dead after the new coronavirus pandemic broke out in its territory, the giant Latin American country of 212 million has the second heaviest death toll in the world, behind the United States.
The number of recorded cases is 21.308.964, which means that Brazil is the third most infected country in the world, behind the USA and India, according to official data.
The country is approaching the tragic milestone of 600.000 deaths. However, as vaccination progresses, the rolling average of deaths recorded daily in seven days has fallen to less than a fifth of the nearly 3.000 found when the pandemic peaked in April.
