"Oxygen breath" for Barcelona from Goldman Sachs, which gave the Catalan club a three-year period to repay the loan of 595 million euros which it had granted to ease its financial situation.
According to reports from El Confidencial, the loan was divided into two installments. The first, amounting to about 300 million euros, will not have to start repaying until the summer of 2024, when the club will have to pay only interest for the next three years.
The remaining amount will have to be paid at the end of the loan, in 2032. However, the loan obliges Barcelona to comply with certain financial parameters related to the debt and gross operating margin.
According to the Spanish press, the creditors are convinced that Barcelona will be able to fulfill its obligations.
The Goldman Sachs loan is used by the club to repay the most urgent debt, which concerns dozens of suppliers, as well as to cover the payments of the players' salaries.
Barcelona accumulated a debt of 1,350 billion euros at the end of last year, 15% more than last year, when it was at 1,173 billion euros.
