Increased by 20% compared to last year to 1,05 euros per liter in Athens and Thessaloniki, to 1,10 euros in the rest of the mainland and around 1,20 - 1,25 euros per liter on the islands is estimated to premiere heating oil on October 15.
The rise in the price of heating oil, combined with the 90% rise in gas prices, is leading the government to adjust its heating allowance.
With the same income and property criteria, about 700.000 households will receive the extended heating allowance for the 2021-2022 season in December. The information states that the allowance from 80-650 euros that was set last year, will be set at the level of 95-650 euros this year with the total budget allocated from the budget to reach 100 million euros.
The government is raising the allowance in a bid to stem the tide of oil and gas price hikes and support the disposable income, especially of economically vulnerable households expected to have a difficult winter due to large increases in heating costs.
