The 22nd Conference of AHEPA Hellas takes place today and tomorrow on the island of Faiaki on the occasion of the celebration of the two hundred years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution
The opening of the Conference took place in the atrium of the Municipal Gallery of Corfu in the Garden of the People, in the presence of the Secretary General of Abroad Hellenism of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giannis Chrysoulakis, the Metropolitan of Corfu, ND MP Stefanos Gikas and Mayor Kyra.
AHEPA is an organization that has identified its presence with the social contribution of volunteering, in sports in culture and through all these processes the local communities are helped. "We will support every effort that honors our country", Mr. Chrysoulakis emphasized during his greeting.
The governor of Greece, Konstantinos Varsamis, speaking in Athens984, stressed, among other things: "We are in Corfu today, we have come to hold the annual conference of AHEPA Hellas. A conference that takes place every year in a different region of the country. This year we chose Corfu to honor the 200 years and the first governor of the country, Ioannis Kapodistrias, who was a real child of the Diaspora. We estimate that his offer was big enough for the country, unfortunately he was sacrificed and this was sacrificed for this country, that is why we are here today to honor him first and foremost, but also to hold our annual conference, the work of which will end tomorrow with the election of the new Board of Directors "
Nikos Dimitropoulos, President of AHEPA Corfu, speaking at our station, focused on the possibilities of Corfu to be a conference destination:
"It is our great pleasure to host the 22nd Congress of the Organization, an anniversary conference because it coincides with the 200 years since the beginning of the Greek revolution. At the same time, the organization completes 99 years of presence worldwide this year. For us in Corfu it is a great challenge to cope with so many delegates who have come from all over Greece and to show the possibility of the infrastructure we have in order to hold large conferences. "
The next AHEPA event in our country will take place in the last week of July in Athens with the World Congress of the Organization.
