On Sunday, June 20, 2021, the Acropolis Museum closes its 12 years of operation, having gone through its most difficult year, after being closed for more than six months due to the pandemic of Covid-19 disease.
Today the Museum continues its operation renewed and on its birthday will welcome its visitors from 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening with reduced general admission (5 euros). At the same time, it will launch a new thematic presentation entitled "Marathon - Salamina. In the footsteps of myth and history ".
In the presentation the visitors will have the opportunity to discuss with the archaeologists of the Museum about the Persian wars and their importance for the western world, for their protagonists and the role of the gods, for the contribution of the battle of Marathon to the victorious naval battle of Salamis. , for the price paid by the Acropolis and the way Athens transformed it into a creation, as well as for how the great moments of history are captured in the exhibits of the Acropolis Museum.
Greek: 12 noon, 4 p.m. & 6 p.m.
English: 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.
Participation: Up to 8 visitors per presentation. Registrations are made the same day at the Information Office. Priority order is observed. The use of a protective mask (not provided by the Museum) and a personal whisper acoustic device (provided by the Museum) is mandatory. Cost of participation: Prerequisite for participation is the issuance of a general admission ticket.
After its birthday (20/6) the Museum will continue to offer the presentation to its visitors every Friday and Sunday.
