The search for a beach is expected to be the demand this weekend for the residents of Attica.
The free beaches have already started to become a pole of attraction, the organized ones are opening today and both are expected to be filled by bathers.
The goal of all, in free and organized, is to comply with the security measures provided and for this reason the coastal municipalities of Attica have already completed since last week any work required by the occasion.
"Our beaches are free, safe and free. This is our message ", says the mayor of Glyfada, George Papanikolaou, to APE-MPE and continues:" Every year our beaches are full of people, who enjoy the sea and their beauty. The entire infrastructure has been prepared for days now. In fact, we have placed the umbrellas at a distance of 10 meters from each other, ie even further than planned, so that we can be sure that the distances will be observed, without stress and irritation. There are toilets, changing rooms, showers, while we have already renewed the sand. There are also three or four restaurants in the coastal area, which have been operating since last Monday, with all the measures provided ".
And Mr. Papanikolaou concludes: "People should come to Glyfada to enjoy their swim safely on the beautiful shores of our city."
For his part, the mayor of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Grigoris Konstandellos, emphasizes in APE-MPE: "For ten days now, everything is ready and the public is safely welcomed. The cleaning has been done, the umbrellas have been installed, there are toilets and changing rooms everywhere and for the most part there are showers. Of course, the lifeguards have also taken their place. "
This municipality has the largest coastline in Attica. "There are 6,5 km of free beach", says Mr. Konstandellos and adds: "The cleaning is continuous and daily and there are bins for recycling three streams everywhere. Also, for the second year this year, we are implementing a program in collaboration with the Technical University, to provide power to bathers, from solar mirrors, to charge their mobile phone or ipad. We applied it for the first time last year and we are continuing it this year ". And he adds at the end: "We want as a municipality to have the comparative advantage".
