Society and democratic dialogue winners over KETHEA's downgrading plan
The draft law on KETHEA that recently saw the light of day was withdrawn, thus paving the way for a meaningful dialogue with the people of the Center. The draft met the universal reaction, not only of the employees, families and communities of the Center, but also of all the sensitized citizens who rejected a plan of substantial annulment of the philosophy and action of KETHEA.
Mr. Bakoyannis chose to be one of the very few who supported this draft, blocking in the municipal council the resolution proposed by the Open City and supported by the democratic opposition, with his only ally the votes of the remnants of the Golden Dawn.
But society won. The attempt to turn KETHEA into another cumbersome cog in the executive mechanism of the government, the degradation of its collective organs, the abolition of the collective agreement of the employees, the alteration of its therapeutic physiognomy, found the citizens opposite and winners. This victory is a living proof of the power that society has when it collectively defends its conquests and a guide for defending our rights against the multifaceted attack they receive.
