"There is no issue of selling the Hellenic Defense Systems (EAS)", assured from the floor of the Parliament, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, answering a topical question of the SYRIZA MP George Tsipras.
As Mr. Panagiotopoulos stressed, there is no scenario for the sale of EAS, on the contrary there is a plan for their expansion and upgrade through new orders. In fact, he stressed that what will take off the prospects of EAS is the co-production with a foreign company of the national rifle, an ambitious program that will be implemented in one to two years.
The Minister informed the Parliament that at the moment, the cogeneration companies are in the evaluation phase by the General Staffs.
Regarding the relocation of the EAS facilities from Ymittos to Lavrio, Mr. Panagiotopoulos said that this will be done normally, without having a negative impact on the supply chain of the Armed Forces and the programs they have undertaken.
