The Municipality of Athens is creating a shield of protection for the homeless in the city, given the impending wave of bad weather, but also the pandemic of the coronavirus, putting in full mobilization its competent services.
So from today Wednesday and for as long as necessary, in an effort not to leave anyone alone, the Municipality of Athens opens spaces where the homeless can be accommodated, warmed up, have meals and protected, while doing RapidTest for Covid-19.
The following premises are open on a 24-hour basis:
The Dormitory of the Multipurpose Center (Acharnon 3), in which modern facilities, the homeless can find a warm bed at night but also stay all day. All those who are hosted in the Multipurpose Center, will undergo RapidTest.
The Cultural Center of Grava (Taygetou 60 - tel: 210.2011151) where our fellow citizens can receive ready meals, blankets and whatever else they need from the staff of the Municipality. Upon entering the site, RapidTest is performed.
The Indoor Basketball Court - Rouf (Piraeus and Ehelidon 69 - tel: 210.3421260) where all those in need can find a clean heated space with meals and blankets. RapidTest will be held at the entrance as well.
Parallel, "Street Work" teams will be on the city streets around the clock, to offer help to those in need.
The call center of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens is also in 24-hour operation (210-5246515) to receive telephone reports from citizens about places of homelessness in need of assistance. Reports of places of homelessness can also be found in four-digit contact number of the Municipality of Athens 1595 and 210.5277000.
