The formation of the Project Team, which will have a project manager in charge and a mission to grant the pending retirement applications as soon as possible, was announced by the Ministry of Labor.
The Project Team will be responsible for preparing and proposing to the government administrative and legislative measures to expedite the award of pensions, as well as to monitor their implementation.
As pointed out in the announcement, in order to achieve a local goal, the Group will be able to resort - if and when it deems appropriate - to the services of specialized companies in the private sector.
Economist Michalis Kefalogiannis, executive of companies and banks in Greece and abroad, with experience in implementing similar projects in the public sector, is appointed Head of the Project Team.
The members of the Committee are:
-Patrina Paparrigopoulou, Professor of Insurance Law at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
-Dr. Alexandros Varveris, Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Legal Informatics, Law School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
-Dr. Artemis Dedouli, Former Director General of Social Security of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
-Eleni Niarchakou, Head of the General Directorate of Pensions of e-EFKA
It is noted that both the project team leader and its members will provide their services unpaid.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, pointed out -among other things- that “on the issue of awarding pensions we must move as quickly as possible and use every means. The truth is that in 2020, thanks to the effort made by the Ministry and the administration of e-EFKA, a significant increase in the award of pensions was recorded by 31% compared to 2019 ", he added and underlined:" However, the efforts for accelerating the award of pensions must be intensified ”.
