The important work done at the Municipal Nursery of Athens was mentioned by Its President, Mrs. Katerina Katrivanou speaking at Athens 9.84 and Maria Pavlou, in the context of the International Human Solidarity Day.

As he explained, 4.500 children are accommodated in all the Nursery Schools of the Municipality of Athens, however, he clarified that not all the needs of the citizens of Athens are covered: «We have a lack of kindergartens. We hope that within the next three years we will be able to create new ones and if the state gives us the opportunity to hire permanent staff, mainly babysitters to improve the services we offer and at the same time to support even more families who are in a very bad situation».
He pointed out that during the pandemic, the stations were harmonized with the protection measures and therefore there were not many cases: "Especially in the 70 kindergartens, there were only 1-2 cases", write down.
As for the functional problems created by the pandemic, Ms. Katrivanou said that since children are not in daycare, educators' efforts are focused on families and children who, for example, are most in need of psychological support. .
Finally, he mentioned that despite the fact that the kindergartens are closed, the kitchens work and occasionally provide portions of food to the Nursing Home and the homeless of the Municipality of Athens while there is an offer of food to the needy and the orphans of the Hatzikostas Foundation.
