Deputy Minister for Civil Protection & Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias announced the suspension of all outdoor theatrical performances as of Thursday, September 24, while speaking at the regular Tuesday live briefing on the coronavirus pandemic’s course in the country.
The measure adds to others introduced as of this week, like teleworking and a further restriction in the number of people allowed per event, in an attempt to put a brake on the rising number of coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.
He also announced a new page on the governmental website (gov.gr) where citizens can be informed about the restrictive measures that concern their region.

Asked about a potential second lockdown, Hardalias noted that the aim is to avoid it, which is why “citizens need to fully observe the current measures,” he underlined.

The Ministry of Culture clarified that suspension is only for Attica and other regions where special restrictive measures have been imposed, excluding open air cinemas.
Therefore, Monica Bellucci will not appear at Herodeion theater as planned.

More than 200 thousand deaths have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic in the US.
