The government is on Friday expected to announce guidelines for health and safety precautions on transport in Greece ahead of the further lifting of restrictions on movement from next week.
It is expected that the use of masks will be compulsory on air transport, as it is on trains and buses.

Restrictions on movement outside one’s region of residence are to be lifted from Monday, when travel to Crete and Evia will be permitted. Travel to other Greek islands will be gradually permitted from May 25.

With high unseasonal temperatures expected in Greece for the weekend, 515 organized beaches will open this Saturday amid social distancing restrictions that were reiterated by Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias on Thursday, during coronavirus live briefing.
Hardalias said violators of crowding restrictions will be stiff.
Umbrellas must accommodate only two sunbeds and be at least 4 meters apart. Beach bars will operate without playing music and will sell only standard products.

The novel coronavirus could become endemic, said the Health Ministry’s coronavirus spokesman and infectious diseases professor Sotiris Tsiodras on Thursday evening, after citing a recent World Health Organization estimate that the virus will continue to exist for a long time.
