Government-opposition clash over FYROM talks

Government and opposition parties clash over the name issue of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Foreign policy “cannot be carried out through tweets,” and New Democracy Deputy Dora Bakoyannis should know better as a former foreign minister, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Wednesday.

Tzanakopoulos was responding to criticism by Bakoyannis, who accused the government of entering negotiations with FYROM “with two conflicting positions.”

Defense minister Panos Kamenos called for a meeting of political leaders chaired by the President of the Republic and clarified that he will not vote in favor any proposal that includes the term “Macedonia”.
