Christiane Schlötzer: Germany has not “read correctly” the consequences of Turkey’s failed attempted coup

Germany has not “read correctly” the consequences of Turkey’s failed attempted coup according to Süddeutsche Zeitung’s Christiane Schlötzer, who also thinks that Ankara is heading to a dangerous direction due to the authoritarian power of Tayyip Erdogan. Having lived many years in Turkey as SZ’s correspondent Ms Schlötzer is explaining the reasons why Turkish people believe in Erdogan and the reasons behind Turkish society’s polarization, which as she says, will continue to exist whatever the outcome of Sunday’ s referendum will be. The German journalist is not that optimistic about Turkey’s EU course and its relations with Europe in general.
She has spoken to journalist Alexandra Voudouri
